FEPSAC Conference held in Innsbruck records the highest number of participants to date

The 2024 European Congress of Sport and Exercise Psychology – the largest international conference that has ever been held in the 45-year history of the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC) – recently took place at Congress Innsbruck, showcasing many new developments and garnering extremely positive feedback from the congress participants, as confirmed by Congress President Christopher Willis. The specialists and experts in attendance were inspired by a comprehensive specialist programme covering the latest research results and practical applications around the theme of "Performance under pressure”, as well as a supporting sports and cultural programme including activities in and around Innsbruck.

Innsbruck, 26/07/2024. From 15 to 19 July, around 1,000 participants from a total of 64 nations could be found discussing the latest research on sport psychology in Congress Innsbruck’s bustling halls at the FEPSAC Congress. The congress was a meeting place for renowned experts in the field, such as popular competitive athletes, well-known coaches working in various disciplines and participants from specialist areas, such as the military and police, e-sports and state-of-the-art medicine. Overall, the proportion of international guests exceeded 95%.

FEPSAC Congress in Innsbruck wins big

Congress President Christopher Willis, Head of the Sport Psychology division of the Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists (BÖP), reviewed the five-day congress with satisfaction: “The members of the FEPSAC Managing Council, the professionals who participated in the congress and I are all bowled over by this year's success. We received so much positive feedback. The international attendees were impressed both by participants’ technical expertise, on the one hand, and the professional setting at Congress Innsbruck, on the other. This was a format that they had never experienced before.”

Excellent collaboration for conference organisation

The Managing Director of Congress Messe Innsbruck (CMI), Christian Mayerhofer, gave his own positive account: “We are delighted that, together with Christopher Willis, we were able to bring the FEPSAC Congress to Innsbruck and not only provide the required infrastructure at Congress Innsbruck, but also the professional support needed to organise this event through our renowned congress management division, PCO Tyrol Congress. We would like to thank the FEPSAC Association, in particular FEPSAC President Maurizio Bertollo, Secretary General Rita De Oliveira and Congress President Christopher Willis, as well as their teams, for their excellent cooperation.” Christian Mayerhofer also lauded the deep-seated commitment and outstanding support of local partners like the City of Innsbruck and the Innsbruck Convention Bureau. The congress city gave a heartfelt welcome to the international trade visitors, many of whom came not only for the congress, but also took advantage of the days after the event to enjoy a recreational programme full of adventurous fun in Innsbruck.
