Congress Messe Innsbruck (CMI) is celebrating a special anniversary this autumn: a special exhibition has been curated to mark ‘100 years of Messe Innsbruck and 50 years of Congress Innsbruck’, which can be visited from 16 October to 22 November in the Artists' Foyer at Congress Innsbruck.
Innsbruck, 13.10.2023. A lot has happened since the founding of the Innsbruck trade fair company in 1923 and the opening of Congress Innsbruck in 1973. The anniversary exhibition to celebrate the milestone birthdays, entitled ‘Messe und Congress Innsbruck im Wandel der Zeit’ (Innsbruck Trade Fair and Congress through the ages), sheds light on the varied history of the two event centres. It focuses on the congress and conference business, trade fair events and cultural and social life in Innsbruck over the course of the 20th century right up to the present day.
After the curtain was raised on a section of the exhibition at the 89th Innsbruck Autumn Fair, the complete anniversary exhibition is now open to all Tyroleans at Congress Innsbruck during regular opening hours on working days from Monday 16 October. Numerous historical exhibits and contemporary documents guide visitors through the past century.
The special exhibition can be seen as both a source of information and a medium of remembrance. Last but not least, it is intended to provide a differentiated view of the many social and technical changes that have taken place over the past decades and in the trade fair and event industry, thus also focussing on the present and the future. ‘I am delighted that we are able to open our venue to all interested parties for an expertly curated and unique exhibition as part of the 100th anniversary of Messe Innsbruck and 50th anniversary of Congress Innsbruck. As a leading organisation, Congress Messe Innsbruck can look back on a long history and is part of the history of Tyrol and Innsbruck. I would like to cordially invite everyone to visit the anniversary exhibition,’ says Christian Mayerhofer, Managing Director of Congress Messe Innsbruck (CMI).
