GETTING TO INNSBRUCK

As the capital of Tirol, Innsbruck has excellent transport connections by plane, train and car. The city is easy to reach both on public transport and by car.

In the city, you can get around conveniently and safely on foot, or by bike, bus or tram. All guests staying in Innsbruck for at least two nights receive the “Welcome Card”: this entitles you to free use of all public transport in the region. You can also easily reach the surrounding valleys and regions by suburban train or using the public bus network.

Innsbruck Airport is located around four kilometres from the city centre and can be reached by car in 10 to 15 minutes. It offers a variety of national and international flight connections, including several daily direct flights to and from Berlin, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Rotterdam, Stockholm and Vienna. In addition to the scheduled flights, there are also seasonal charter flights.

There are six car hire companies at Innsbruck Airport that offer a wide selection of vehicles. Thanks its excellent location, the city centre can also be accessed easily and conveniently by public transport (bus line F).

Innsbruck Central Station is a hub for European north-south and east-west rail traffic. As such, international long-distance trains from Munich, Vienna, Zurich and Verona, as well as all regional trains, stop at Innsbruck Central Station. You can get to Congress Innsbruck in just 5 minutes by taxi, bus or suburban train, or you can treat yourself to a relaxing walk, which will take you to Congress Innsbruck in just 15 minutes.

Bus line F runs between Innsbruck Airport and Innsbruck Central Station (journey time approx. 15 minutes). From the central station, you can take regional bus line 540 directly to the congress venue’s main entrance (“Congress / Hofburg” bus stop) or you can walk (approx. 15 minutes). Other bus and tram stops on various lines are also within walking distance of Congress Innsbruck.

It is particularly easy to get around Innsbruck on Stadtrad rental bikes. Just register at www.stadtrad.ivb.at or via the “nextbike” app: there you will also find details of all hire and return stations. Bicycle parking is available at the main entrance and in front of the Haus der Musik.

A guidance system leads you easily and directly from the motorway exits through Innsbruck to Congress Innsbruck. The entrance to the Congress underground car park is located right next to the main entrance (Herrengasse / Rennweg entrance). There are also two electric vehicle charging points there.

It is just a 15-minute walk from the central station to Messe Innsbruck The taxi ride from the train station to Messe Innsbruck takes around five minutes. Messe Innsbruck even has its own train stop: “Innsbruck-Messe”.

The “Museumsstraße” or “Landesmuseum” tram stop is just a few minutes' walk from the train station: take tram line 1 in the direction “Mühlauer Brücke” and from there you will travel straight to Messe Innsbruck in just a few minutes (“Innsbruck Messe/Zeughaus” stop). There are also several bus stops on different routes in the immediate vicinity of the exhibition centre.

For convenient city bike hire, just register via www.stadtrad.ivb.at or via the “nextbike” app: there you will also find all hire and return stations. Bicycle parking is available at the main entrance.

congresspark igls is easy to reach from Innsbruck by public transport. The bus stop “Museumsstraße” or “Landesmuseum” is just a few minutes' walk from Innsbruck Central Station: from there, bus line J takes you to the centre of Igls in around 15 minutes.

Important: The official address of the congresspark igls location is Eugenpromenade 2, but access is via Kurweg. Simply enter “Kurweg” in your sat nav system (with no house number) to reach the site.  

From the east: Travel on the Inntal motorway A12 in the direction of Bregenz/Airport/Innsbruck. Take exit 75 “Innsbruck-Mitte” and go along Igler Straße until it joins Patscher Straße. After approx. 700 metres, turn left into the Kurweg. 

From the west: Coming via the Inntal motorway A12, drive into Innsbruck, taking the A13/Salzburg/Brenner direction. Take exit 75 “Innsbruck-Mitte” and go along Igler Straße until it joins Patscher Straße. After approx. 700 metres, turn left into the Kurpark. 

From the south: Travelling on the Brenner motorway A13, take exit 7 for “Patsch”. About three kilometres after the centre of Patsch, turn into Patscher Straße in the direction of Igls. After around 1.7 kilometres, Kurweg branches off to the right.

From Innsbruck city centre: Travel along Olympiastraße in an easterly direction and take the first exit at the roundabout next to the Olympic Stadium. Follow Resselstraße to the roundabout and take the second exit in the direction of Igls. Follow Igler Straße until it joins Patscher Straße. After approx. 700 metres, turn left into the Kurweg.

There are 80 parking spaces available free of charge at the congresspark igls location. Two electric vehicle charging points are also available there.

Travelling to Innsbruck by plane

Innsbruck International Airport is around four kilometres and approx. 10 - 15 minutes by car from the city centre. It has excellent national and international flight connections. There are direct flights to and from Berlin, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Rotterdam, Stockholm and Vienna several times a day. In addition to scheduled flights, seasonal charter flights also operate from here. There are six car hire companies at Innsbruck Airport that offer a wide selection of rental cars. Thanks to its central location, you can also reach the city centre quickly and easily by taxi or public transport (bus line F).

Travelling TO INNSBRUCK by train

Innsbruck Central Station is located on the Vienna-Zurich and Munich-Bolzano railway lines: services that stop here include international long-distance trains and regional railjets stop. The journey time from Vienna to Innsbruck (by ÖBB or Westbahn) is around 4.5 hours, from Munich and Bolzano just under two hours and from Zurich around 3.5 hours. The central station is just a few minutes' walk from Innsbruck city centre. Are you staying a little out of town? Tirol has a well-developed suburban train network with routes from Kufstein (via Wörgl) to St. Anton, Ötztal, Mittenwald, the Brenner Pass (onwards to Bolzano) and Hochfilzen. All suburban train lines stop at the central station. Messe Innsbruck even has its own suburban train stop: “Innsbruck-Messe”.

Travelling TO INNSBRUCK by long-distance bus

You can travel to Innsbruck and its surrounding holiday regions and valleys by bus comfortably and conveniently. Details of the operating long-distance bus providers and routes are listed on the Tirol Werbung website.

Travelling TO INNSBRUCK by car

With the A13 Innsbruck-Brenner (north-south) motorway, the A12 Inntal motorway and the direct connection from Germany to the Arlberg (east-west), Innsbruck is easy to get to by car. Please make sure that you adhere to the rule on general motorway toll stickers (vignette) while travelling on Austria's motorways (online vignettes via www.asfinag.at). In the period from 1 November to 15 April, winter tyres are also compulsory when winter driving conditions apply.
