Europa Foyer
The Europa Foyer is the hub of Congress Innsbruck’s ground floor. It is located centrally between the entrances at Rennweg and Herzog-Otto-Ufer. With plenty of daylight, lovely views of the tree-lined Europa Allee, precious serpentine flooring, designer sofas and oversized posters of Tirol, this 680-square-metre foyer has an inviting, elegant yet laid-back atmosphere. The Europa Foyer combines with the similarly sized Dogana Foyer and the smaller Brüssel Foyer to form the spacious Rennweg Foyer, spanning an impressive area of 1,620 square metres. The combined foyer is perfect for presentations and get-togethers of all kinds, while large conferences use it as the registration office.
Among the artworks adorning the Europa Foyer is Relief der Mutter, a true masterpiece by the internationally renowned, award-winning sculptor and illustrator Rudolf Wach. A native Tirolean (born in Hall in 1934), he studied and lived in Milan and Paris among other places. His art is exhibited all over the world, and you can see another of his sculptures on the nearby Innbrücke bridge over the Inn. Rudi Walch, together with Markus Prachensky and Fritz Wotruba, was commissioned to create the artistic designs for Congress Innsbruck in the 1970s. The other two artists’ works are also on display in the building.
