Kristall Foyer

Extravagant chandeliers, incredible mountain vistas and impressive artworks await as you enter the Kristall Foyer on the first floor of Congress Innsbruck. Spanning 601 square metres, the Kristall Foyer is the jewel in the building’s crown. It is a magnificent space for exhibitions and culinary refreshments. Adjoining Saal Tirol, the largest room of Congress Innsbruck, it is the buzzing social hub of any conference. Sweeping views of the Nordkette mountain range with its scenic Seegrube and the Hafelekarspitze, which towers at 2,334 metres above sea level, add to its unique atmosphere. Event attendees can also access the terrace via the Kristall Foyer.

The Kristall Foyer has certainly earned its name. As its centrepiece, it has a wall relief covered in thousands of crystals from the Tirolean company Swarovski, which is headquartered in Wattens. Founder Daniel Swarovski (1862–1956) revolutionised the world of jewellery more than a century ago by developing a method of cutting and polishing glass to make it shine and glitter like diamonds. To this day, Swarovski is a global market leader, and its Crystal Worlds in Wattens are among the region’s greatest attractions. Other works adorning the Kristall Foyer include the Austrian sculptor and new-media artist Gerhardt Moswitzer’s (1940-2013) sculpture “Der Stehende” and the monumental painting “Sublimation” by Tirolean painter Anton Christian (born in 1940 in Innsbruck).
