Tirol Foyer

The Tirol Foyer is one of the building’s largest foyers. Spanning round about 1000 square metres, it is especially suitable for exhibitions, poster sessions and presentations. It adjoins the Kristall Foyer and Saal Tirol, the second largest hall of Congress Innsbruck after the Dogana. As a typical assembly room and concert hall, it offers excellent acoustics. The Tirol Foyer also provides access to the boxes of the Dogana.

Suffused with natural light, the Tirol Foyer is the hub of the first floor and its most important communication centre. Its walls are adorned with works from local artists, such as Seiltänzer und andere Artisten by the Tyrolean painter and illustrator Elmar Peintner (born in Zams in 1954). Fritz Wotruba’s (1907–1975) sculpture Große Liegende is the room’s impressive centrepiece. Born in Vienna, Wotruba is one of the most influential Austrian sculptors of the 20th century. Together with Markus Prachensky and Rudi Walch, he was commissioned to create the artistic designs for Congress Innsbruck in the 1970s. The other two artists’ works are also on display in the building.
