International Timber Construction Forum 2024 in Congress Innsbruck
03.12.2024
Experts from the timber construction industry will come together from December 4 to 6 at Congress Innsbruck for the 28th International Timber Construction Forum to discuss the future of timber construction.
International Timber Construction Forum (IHF) invites you to Innsbruck
As a central congress for the timber construction industry, the forum brings together leading experts, including timber builders, planners, engineers and architects as well as those responsible in building and approval authorities, craftsmen, project managers and practitioners. The congress offers the opportunity to exchange views on current developments and discuss the future of the industry. The organizer FORUM HOLZBAU is expecting more than 2,500 participants and is once again focusing on the dialogue between research, practice and industry in order to further develop timber construction in a future-proof manner.
Wednesday: Opening event and Pre-conference seminars
The event kicks off on Wednesday with a comprehensive opening event on the highly topical subject of “Social and affordable housing”. In the afternoon, there will be five parallel Pre-conference seminars on the topics of architecture, prefabricated construction, timber house construction, connection technology and politics and training. The speakers will provide insights into new research findings, present examples of best practice, provide current figures and future prospects and provide comprehensive information on timber as a building material.
Thursday: IHF Core Forum
The core forum begins on Thursday with a joint session. The opening lecture by Dr. Thomas Obst (IW Cologne) will provide insights into global economic development. Later on, parallel lecture blocks will shed light on the topics of timber construction, earthquake design of timber structures (Block 1), adhesive technology in extreme applications and the circular economy in timber construction (Block 2). Students will present innovative work in the Master Colloquium (Block 3), which will then be discussed in greater depth in the “World Café” discussion forum. The evening will be rounded off with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Silke Welpe (TU Munich) on the role of artificial intelligence in the world of work and a festive award ceremony for deserving industry personalities.
Friday: Presentations and IHF Epilogue
The final day, December 6, will be dedicated to timber engineering projects (Block A), biaxially tensioned timber structures (Block B), multi-storey timber buildings (Block C) and timber material partnerships (Block D). The joint closing event, the IHF Epilogue, will present pioneering timber buildings that have been or are being built as part of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the 2025 World Expo in Osaka and the IBA 2027 in Stuttgart.
