50 years - INTERALPIN celebrates its anniversary
20.03.2024
The world's leading trade fair for alpine technologies has reason to celebrate: 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of INTERALPIN.
Meeting place for the cable car industry
Since its launch in 1974, INTERALPIN has developed into an indispensable meeting place for the ropeway industry over the past five decades. In 2025, the 25th edition of this biennial trade fair will take place from 6 to 9 May in Innsbruck, where it will once again welcome trade visitors from more than 130 countries. The anniversary celebrations will already begin this year, when INTERALPIN will be represented at the renowned OITAF World Cableski Congress in Vancouver from 17 to 21 June. The Managing Director of Congress Messe Innsbruck (CMI), Christian Mayerhofer, looks back on the history and significance of INTERALPIN and emphasises its impressive development into a leading global platform for alpine technologies. He thanks all partners, exhibitors and trade visitors who have contributed to the success of INTERALPIN and will continue to do so in the future. Mayerhofer is looking forward to celebrating the anniversary in style at the 25th edition of the trade fair in 2025.
From the Ski Slope Congress to INTERALPIN
The success story of INTERALPIN began as a small product exhibition as part of the International Ski Slope Congress in 1974. The exhibition was held for the first time under the name INTERALPIN a year later at the Kongresshaus Innsbruck. In 1977, it was organised for the first time as an independent event with the subtitle ‘Trade Exhibition for Winter Maintenance Equipment’ and already attracted international participation at that time. The number of exhibitors and international interest grew continuously, and in 2002 INTERALPIN moved to the Messe Innsbruck exhibition centre due to space requirements, where it is still successfully held today. In 2023, the trade fair attracted more than 35,000 trade visitors from around 130 countries and offered a wide range of products from over 650 exhibitors from more than 50 countries.
