Weddings & celebrations - The color trends 2024

18.12.2023

The "Hochzeiten & Feste 2024" presents the trends for future wedding couples and provides valuable tips for planning your own dream wedding.

The trend colours: peach and pastel shades

According to the US colour institute Pantone, one colour in particular will dominate fashion, design, interior design, lifestyle and art in 2024: ‘Peach Fuzz’ is described as soft and sunny, evoking empathy and connection. The colour is therefore also a hot tip for weddings. Dagmar Huber-Kumpusch, Managing Director of ‘Dagis Deko’, confirms that the trend colour has already found its way into weddings and will continue to be in vogue. The decorator and florist decorates over 65 weddings every year. Peach tones can be used in floral arrangements, table decorations, dresses and accessories for bridesmaids. Other trendy pastel colours or bright pink and light blue go well with this.

The art of the colour concept: selection and symbolism

From flower arrangements to table decorations: the choice of colours and their symbolism play an important role. According to the decoration expert, the trends of recent years have tended towards reduced and simple floral decorations. Many favour one main flower such as hydrangea, rose or gerbera instead of large arrangements with different flowers. Salmon-coloured variations, often in combination with bright pink, are popular. Meadow flowers are also frequently in demand. Some couples want opulent floral decorations with tulle and fairy lights.

A well-thought-out colour scheme makes it easier to structure the wedding planning. Ideally, one main colour and two accompanying colours should be chosen, with the symbolism of the colours serving as a guide. For example, red stands for love, yellowish tones for cheerfulness, green for harmony and blue for relaxation. Colour theory and colour psychology help with the selection of suitable colour combinations. Complementary colours create strong contrasts, while mixing warm or cold colours creates harmonious combinations. For the trend colour peach, Dagmar Huber-Kumpusch recommends neutral colours such as white and beige as well as shades of green or blue such as mint for a successful combination.

At "Hochzeiten & Feste 2024", Western Austria's leading wedding fair from 13 to 14 January 2024 at Messe Innsbruck, all wedding trends will be presented. Numerous experts from the fields of fashion, decoration, floristry, photography and more will be on hand to advise visitors. In addition to cake tastings, workshops on stationery will also be offered. Those looking to get married will have the opportunity to get inspiration, ideas and offers for their big celebration.
